Monkey Around with a Little Monkey Theme Party

Does your child love Curious George or play like a little monkey?  Or are you having a Little Monkey theme Baby Shower?  You can go wild with these monkey party ideas. Party ideas for monkey invitations, monkey decorations, monkey games, monkey inspired food and monkey favor ideas.

You may want to purchase, borrow or rent the following items for your Monkey party:

• Stuffed monkeys and stuffed bananas
• A jungle gym
• Monkey masks or monkey costumes
• Fake plants, flowers, vines and bamboo   

Monkey Party Decoration Ideas ... Many items can be found at the Dollar trees or any party store.

• Create a whimsical jungle using homemade trees. Cut construction paper into leaf shapes. Then paint paper towel rolls brown and tape the paper leaves to the tube. Stack the trees as high as you'd like using tape to hold the tubes together.

• Place bunches of bananas and oranges (real or plastic) on the party table.

• Hang green streamers from the ceiling to look like vines. You can twist two together or let the streamers naturally hang. You can also hang "vine" streamers around the border of the party table and in door frames.

• Arrange inflatable palm trees around the room along with stuffed monkeys.

• Decorate your walls with jungle wall hangings, monkey wall stickers and large construction paper bananas.

Monkey Party Food Ideas

In addition to pizza, chicken fingers, hamburgers or hotdogs, you can add some Monkey themed food into the mix. Here are some suggestions.

• Slice coconuts in half and use the shells as cups. Then prepare chocolate banana smoothies to serve to your guests. In a blender, combine 1 banana, 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup, 1 cup milk and 1 cup crushed ice. Blend until smooth and serve!

• Arrange a colorful fruit and veggie tray for your guests to enjoy. Monkeys love oranges and bananas, so be sure to include orange and banana slices for your little monkeys!

• Prepare monkey bread using our easy to follow recipe.

• Create monkey cupcakes  

For the cake, ask your local grocery store if they have a Monkey themed cake or decorate your own using a monkey cake pan.

Now Buffet Recipes.

Crock pot dishes are the easiest to start with.

Excellent meatball appitizers:
For time issues... use frozen cocktail size meatballs from the grocery store. Put in the slo cooker while getting the sauce ready. In a pot... empty a can of Jellied cranberries OR a jar of grape jelly. Add a jar of CHILI Sauce (NOT cocktail sauce). Heat till jelly is disolved in with the chili sauce. Pour over meatballs & cook on low.

Little Sausage Wraps.
Get a package or 2 of the "Lil Smokies" sausages. Take a lb of bacon ... Cut in 3rds. Open a can of sliced Water Chestnuts. Cut water chestnuts in half. Place one water chestnut on a sausage, wrap in a piece of bacon & secure with a toothpick. Place in a baking pan. Sprinkle Brown sugar on the top. Cover with foil & bake at 350 for about 30 min.

Crab-cream cheese Puffs.
soften cream cheese & whip with mixer... add a bit of garlic & whip. Stir in finely chopped canned crab. Roll out Pillsbury type Cresent dough. I use a glass to cut small rounds... or you can cut smalll squares. Put a tsp or so of cream cheese mixture in the middle... fold over & seal.
brush with an egg/water wash & sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake as directed on the dough package... or till lightly brown. Taste great hot or cooled down.

Shrimp & Cream cheese cracker spread. This is SOOOO easy! Unwrap a block of cream cheese, pour a 1/2 a jar of Cocktail Sauce over the cream cheese block... Drain & dump a can of small salad size shrimp over the cocktail sauce. Add a "fancy" little spread knife & put any crackers you like around the plate.

Chocolate dipped strawberries... or fruits & a veggie tray with ranch dip are always a beautiful addition to the table.
